Cruise Update

We are having a great time. Right now we are docked at Sitka. Went ashore earlier for sightseeing. I have a lot of pictures but cannot post them because the internet access is via satellite and very slow. The computer tech said there is nothing he can do about it and I shouldn't waste my time with slideshows. I did manage to post a few pics for you though. When I hit land I may be able to post more. We also had problems with our cellphones. The time and date got messed up. It said the date was Oct 18th 1999. Needless to say we finally got them reset after shutting them off for the night. But we missed some messages. Anyway having fun, doing a lot of stuff. We will post more when we can.

Preparing for Alaska

Well the big day is almost here. We are trying to get our work done so that we don't have any worries during our vacation. Dan mowed our lawn the other day and he intends to mow once more before we leave. Thank goodness. One of my coworkers offered to come and do it to help out. Didn't want to take him up on it. Been there, done that last year. Better off taking care of ourselves. I wanted to at least have a good start on packing but ended up canning pickles yesterday. Today I am at work for a 36 hour triple shift. I guess packing will start Friday and finish on Saturday. Going to try to till the garden before I go also. I will try to post pictures while we are gone since the cruise claims to have internet access.
I revised our website to make room for more blogging & pictures. Nice to have a change for a while.

Countdown to Alaska

This has been a busy week for us. I worked over time last week at both jobs. A total of 89 hours on the clock. It will be nice to have extra money for the trip. It was Robert's 18th birthday. So now we officially have an "empty nest." Feels like we are young again. I have uploaded some old pictures of our engagement and wedding. We became engaged while on a trip with my family out West. Then DW went to California to visit his uncle and aunt. He got a job and I went out several months later where we got married overlooking the ocean.

Update 7-2-09

We have had a very busy week. You all know we took a balloon ride for our anniversary. It was a special day. We started with a visit to the temple where we renewed our covenants. That was the best. Kendall & Joanne was there too. The temple is such a peaceful place where the outside world stays outside. The rest of the day was totally ours. It's nice to be together for fun stuff instead of business and fire dept stuff. At the end of the week we spent a few days at the Illinois Association of Fire Protection Districts Conference. Dan took a Trusttees class and I manned a booth for Illinois EMT Association. When we got home we found multiple jobs needing to be done. I spent several days working on the garden. Dan has been helping with the lawn as well as other household jobs. We also have had to get some blood tests. This week we are starting our membership at the hospital's gym. Since I work there we both get a free membership. We can get a health insurance discount if we start using it. Maybe this will help us get into shape. This also gives us access to the personal trainers to monitor our progress. (Sarah already does a good job of that anyway.) Today we started the exercise routine that the phys tech outlined for each of us to follow. We both survived! Right now I just finished making Landon's Birthday cake for his party tonight.
