Love does not consist of gazing at each other, but in looking together in the same direction.

My Graduation Advice
All of our kids have officially graduated as of May 24th 2009. Robert had a graduation barbeque party today. It rained some but that didn't bother us. We got our canopy tent out and grilled out anyway. As he makes his way through this crazy world I can only pass on some advice and hope he listens and learns from others mistakes. There are many choices in life and I hope that my kids will always make good ones. Remember "The Happpiest person is the one that finds that what he SHOULD be doing and what he IS doing, are the same thing."

Just Keeping Up
This appears to be the beginning of another busy summer. Robert is in the midst of graduation ceremonies and parties. He is also working and trying to finish EMT-Basic practicals. Dan and I have been putting in the garden. This year Dan has his head in the game and has even built me a fence to keep the deer out! He also has been mowing my mothers yard to get ahead of that since it was so bad after it got away from us last year. To those of you that have not seen it, DW has conquered the jungle! Amazing what he can do when he puts his mind to it. I think he is returning to his youthful self. Maybe his midlife crisis is over huh? Today he even put in a second strawberry patch for me! Meanwhile I tried to help by putting mom's garden in. Not easy while still working two jobs and evaluating EMT students. I also have two pottery classes left. My projects so far are coming along fine. WE are back to our walks and have even been on the tandem bike a couple of times. Not too much though because of DW's foot. I have had to massage it nearly every day to relieve some of the pain. Fortunately we took a massage class together in February. I actually enjoy it. Right now life is busy but good!

The case of the wandering clothes hamper.
I have gotten used to my husband's idiosyncrasies but some things till puzzle me. Dan hates the clothes hamper. I know this to be true because his clothes never make it to it. I first noticed this many years ago and thought that maybe it just wasn't placed in a convenient place. At that time his clothes always remained in a pile near the back door. My logical conclusion was to move the clothes hamper near to the back door so he could conveniently get out of his work clothes and then drop them into the clothes hamper. However, it remained empty. I then noticed the pile of clothes appeared in the bathroom next to the shower. Once again I moved the hamper to make his life easier. This went on for several other spots. I finally gave up. My clothes hamper now stays in one spot where I can use it. Dan's current spot is to drape his clothes over a dining room chair. Sigh!!!!!

Romantic Dan Story #2
One evening after I had worked multiple shifts and had finally made it home, Dan wanted to go on our usual walk. (It is not unusual for us to take daily (or whenever we can) walks to unwind and touch base with each other.) I was originally tired and wanted to just relax but he talked me into it. As we walked, he wanted to stop by the local motel because he was supposed to check their "fire sprinklers." When we got there we went upstairs and he got out a key to the honeymoon suite. I was a little confused at first when he had a fire going in the fireplace and the hottub filled with bubbles and all our shower stuff and bed clothes. He had reserved the suite for US! The kids knew where we went and didn't expect us home. (Of course this was not too long ago, so they were old enough to take care of themselves). Dan had thought of everything for a romantic relaxing night, even a book that I had been reading and massage lotion to give me one of his relaxing massages. Once again my husband outshines everyone else.
Mother's Day
Today was a great day! For Mother's Day Kendall & Joanne installed a new spout for my kitchen sink. The spray handle on it has been broken for years. Kendall got a new spout and faucet which also fixed the problems with the knobs not shutting off. Robert and Kira cleaned the house for me. Totally awesome! Dan has been fixing a fence around my garden to keep the deer out. Last year he built a strawberry bed for me (which is doing excellent this year) and the fence around the garden will enclose that also. Sarah gave me a bath spa set to use when my new jet bathtub gets installed this next month. She knows I love to relax in a bubble bath. That reminds me of another cute romantic story about Dan which I will post next. (Check out my post Romantic Dan #2.) We also went out to my mom's house and helped here clear off her garden so we can get it planted.

A Royal Family
Royal blood must run in the family. Sarah was crowned Miss Bluegrass Kahoka, Kendall was Prom King, Robert was Prom King, Vicki was Homecoming Queen and also in the Prom Royal Court, Dan was crowned Freckle King. It's good to know the tradition carries on.

Robert's Prom
Robert and Kira went to Prom this past weekend. He continued the Gallaher tradition of being Prom King. Congratulations Robert! The red dress and matching tuxedo matched Robert's red crown he got too. The pictures below are pre-prom pictures. Sarah has posted more on her facebook and I will post the "official" professional ones when we get them.
