Clothes hamper update.

I have discovered why DW keeps his clothes hanging over the dining room chairs. It is not that he hates the clothes hamper at all. I believe that it is because he cannot see through the dresser drawers and it is too much work to open them to look inside. I have had to find his clothes for him countless times because the closet door won't open for him or the dresser drawers are hiding the clothes from his view. I think I will line some chairs up in my bedroom so that he can 'see' his clothes better. Although the other day He had trouble finding a uniform. They were sitting in plain sight on TOP of the dresser because I hadn't put them away yet. SIGH...... It's a good thing I had 8 brothers or I would be crazy after 25 years with just 1 man. But I love him anyway.

What we've been doing.

So I had two free days this week and planned to do something with all the vegetables left in the gardens. Dan has been trying catch up with the yard but keeps getting sidetracked. Since it rained all day yesterday we couldn't get outside anyway. I used the day inside to make our meals for the month. I used to do that when the kids were small and it worked out very well. The idea is to prepare all the meals in one day and freeze them so that when it is time to eat all I have to do is cook. Simple, quick, and homemade meals. The idea is to make things simple. (The KISS method) I don't like fast foods but Dan loves them so I am trying to convince him that we can eat better and just as quickly as driving thru Long John Silvers. On the menu this month is lasagne, sweet and sour meatballs, italian casserole, strawberry dessert, tacos, and even homemade bread. All fresh from the garden and low in carbohydrates and sugar.

Sept 16th 2009

Been very busy lately. I am picking the last of my garden and prepping for next year. Tired of canning. Haven't done as much as last year but still canned plenty. Today I am canning sauerkraut. My first attempt at the old fashioned German Kraut. My Grandpa would be proud. I believe there are still about 5 heads of cabbage in Mom's garden. Tomorrow I will check and if so I will make more. Still working crazy hours. Having no kids home sure makes the housework easier. I was going to do some loads of laundry today and realized there wasn't much to do. Only TWO loads!!!! Now if DW and I quit wearing clothes I would have it made!! LOL

Sept Update

We have been really busy lately. There are tons of tomatos to can, grapes need picked and we have been switching bedrooms. Our plan is to move into Robert's old room and remodel our room. Last night was the first night with this new arrangement. Somewhat different. The house sure is quiet without the kids. I was used to listening for when the kids came home. So it was really un-nerving when Dan came home at 3am unexpectedly. What a pleasant surprise to discover it was him! We also have been planning several excursions for this fall. Some of it is just work related travel on my part. This is continuing education season for many EMS organizations so I will need to be taking as well as giving some classes. The big trip for us there is Atlanta. I have limited my involvement somewhat but things seem to keep cropping up anyway. Robert is doing well though for those of you not on his facebook. Dan and I are proud of all of our kids. They have all grown up to be smart well adjusted kids. Surprising to anyone? Anyway we are proud of them and thankful they have avoided the pitfalls that others have fallen into. I know they can achieve anything they want.
