What we've been doing.

So I had two free days this week and planned to do something with all the vegetables left in the gardens. Dan has been trying catch up with the yard but keeps getting sidetracked. Since it rained all day yesterday we couldn't get outside anyway. I used the day inside to make our meals for the month. I used to do that when the kids were small and it worked out very well. The idea is to prepare all the meals in one day and freeze them so that when it is time to eat all I have to do is cook. Simple, quick, and homemade meals. The idea is to make things simple. (The KISS method) I don't like fast foods but Dan loves them so I am trying to convince him that we can eat better and just as quickly as driving thru Long John Silvers. On the menu this month is lasagne, sweet and sour meatballs, italian casserole, strawberry dessert, tacos, and even homemade bread. All fresh from the garden and low in carbohydrates and sugar.

  1. That's an amzing plan. Do you have a recipe book with frozen meal recipes? This could come in very handy at our house too.

  2. Remind me Joanne and I will give you my "Meals by the Month" recipe book. It has everything from the shopping list to the recipes. I loved it when the kids were young.

  3. I LOVE this blog Vicki...you have done a great job! I loved the slideshow of your Alaskan Cruise...how fun! And it is so neat to be able to see all the pictures and history you have posted, amazing! I'm so impressed with your garden, I hope to have one sometime in the future...your menu looks pretty darn good! CONGRATULATIONS on your second grandchild (I still think you look too young to be a Grandma)...that is wonderful! :-)
